Pre-production Inspection
Stage of production: 0~5% of finished production
A pre-production inspection will answer the following questions:
- Does my supplier is following my blueprint?
- Does the supplier is following the manufacturing processes?
- Does the raw materials (or components) use in my product are the correct one?
During production Inspection
Stage of production: ~30% of finished production
This inspection should answer this question:
- Does my finished products in mass production looks good?
- If the answer is negative, corrective action will be put in place for the rest of the job, meanwhile what is already produced might be re-workable.
- At contrary, a positive answer will put you at ease, allowing you to plan your shipment.
Keep in mind that repairs and re-inspection is more time consuming when problems are notice during the Final random Inspection.
Final random Inspection
Stage of production: 100% of finished production
This is the most common type of quality control inspection. It occurs once 100% of shipment quantity is ready with roughly 80% packed.
At this stage, a real random inspection happens using the statistical sampling procedure ISO 2859-1 (ANSI/ASQ Z1.4).
If you already had a During production Inspection, a final inspection mostly would confirm a shipment’s quality instead of catching issues, it also put a positive pressure on your suppliers.
Container loading Inspection
Stage of production: ready to ship
It the least common inspection, but, if you have some fragile product you might not want them to be placed at the bottom.
It can also ensure that your supplier ship out the right quantity, and of course the right goods.
